Before I moved to Singapore I took a holiday from the Information Technology market, and took a nine month full-time intensive Holistic Massage therapy course at NHI in Emeryville, CA. A few months before I graduated I started my own practice by advertising on East bay coffee house bulletin boards and in the East Bay Express (a local rag newspaper.) I was getting about 1 new client a week, which is actually pretty good if you are just starting out. I also had name cards printed and gave them to everyone I knew. My practice was growing but not fast enough to make a living at, so I applied at several reputable massage spas and salons, and finally got a part time hourly gig at Piedmont Springs in Piedmont, CA. They had a strict policy of not soliciting their clients for our personal practices, but many of my clients actually asked me if they could get my services outside of PS. So I began picking up regular clients, about 3 a week. This kept me busy about 4 days a week with about 5 clients. I am very strong and had learned good techniques so I found I could actually do about 50 hours of massage a week. It was a great time in my life. Soon I was making as much money as I did doing programming work.
I really enjoy doing massage work, and it complemented by psychic reading and healing practice. Even more then that it made me healthy.
But let me rewind a bit. The reason I had gotten into massage is that I was becoming listless and low energy. I even began going to doctors, when my healing colleagues didn't seem to be able to help me. After my fourth visit to a new doctor, I finally got some answers. The doctor told me that there was no way to conclusively diagnose my illness, but it did seem to her that I had chronic fatigue syndrome. She said that her diagnosis was off the record and that there was nothing she could do for me. She did suggest visiting a dietitian and that I would need to change my diet, cut out cheeses, meat and wheat. Get lot's of cardio-vascular excersize and massage everyday. She said one of the best ways to save money was to join a vocational school program for learning massage.
About the same time I found out my friend Jon Cotton, was into this fasting thing. He was a breathairian, which is this strange thing where you live off air and water, without eating food. Ok, Jon is a bit eccentric, but he knows his stuff. I began my Massage training and fasted for 3 month stretches, taking only supplements and watered down juice. Which I alternated with psyllium husk shakes. Psyllium rocks, it is this really good seed with a spongy outer shell which are super absorbent. By drinking these husks mixed with water the concoction will actually pull out toxins and plague from your intestines.
Between the intense exercise of practising massage everyday, plus getting massage everyday and eliminating solid food from my diet, I totally kicked the chronic fatigue and began having unlimited amounts of energy. It was very cool. By the time I was ready to graduate I began taking solid food, but stuck to a pure vegan diet with occasional small amounts of fresh fish. This gave me the energy and stamina to do my massage practice as it started to heat up.
Unfortunately, I was not able to bring my practice to Singapore as there was too much in-expensive massage to compete with. Although I did have a couple clients who came all the way to Singapore to get massages from me, believe it! It still amazes me when I think about it.
One more thing I should mention about fasting is that you absolutely have to do colon irrigation of a frequent but irregular basis. If you don't you can possibly suffer serious damage to your kidneys and other organs. Fasting generally causes many trapped toxins in your fat, bones and other hiding places in your body to come out into your blood stream. This means you can literally poison yourself from the inside out.
While I was in Singapore and Indonesia, many of the Muslim's also fast, although they do it differently. They refer to it as a time of cleaning the body and purging the soul of sins. I think they do have the correct idea.
So if you have chronic fatigue symptoms or syndrome, you should seek out an expert. What I learned to do helped me, but there are so many ways to do it wrong that can be more harmful than good. You should definitely know what you are doing before you get into something like that. Also if you are going to do you own colonic irrigation make sure you do it with someone who has done it before and know what they are doing the first few times. I know that sounds yucky, but it is not something to mess around with, I will say never never use any pressure during an enema or colonic. Get a gravity bag, and you should be reasonably safe.
Ok now that I have complete grossed you out. Thanks for reading.
